ABOUT

What do I do?

Well I teach yoga! If I had to sum it up I’d say, “ I help people to achieve balance in their lives. This starts on the yoga mat and then they start to connect with their goals and dreams.”

I work with many midlife women. They are ready for a new life - to move on from issues that they have been coping with. That’s why my ‘brand’ is called Becoming YOU.

What type of yoga?

At the moment I teach two main types of yoga. Yin involves poses that you hold for a longer amount of time, generally seated on the floor. These postures work on the deeper tissues and encourage lasting flexibility. The way that I teach these poses makes them very relaxing so the classes feel very restorative and mellow. Don’t be deceived though - the goodness, as I like to think of it, is still happening.

I also teach alignment yoga. This involves the more usual yoga postures and sequences such as downward facing dog and sun salutations. There is an emphasis on correct alignment to prevent injury.

Both types of yoga soothe the nervous system and release the tension.

Who do you teach?

I teach two very different groups of people. I have been working with lots of women who are in need of time-out from demanding careers.

I also teach a rowing squad at a high school. So teenage boys aged 14 to 18 years.

Do I have other disciplines?

Yes! I am also a Reiki practitioner. Reiki is a type of energy healing that releases the blocks, among other benefits to your health and wellbeing.

I am also a high school English and drama teacher.

Anything else?

I am English, married to a New Zealander. We have three grown-up sons.

Hobbies?

I spend my time painting and making yoga bolsters. I also sell bolsters so not really a hobby!
