Why yoga for Menopause?

Mostly, I believe that MY allows you to DO LESS, REDUCE STRESS and REST.


You get you body moving but in a mellow way - gentle and repetitive yoga movement, breathing and meditation that helps you to reduce brain fog, overwhelm, anxiety, and stress.

Stress undeniably makes menopausal symptoms worse. So by addressing what is out of balance in you life, you can gain greater control over your mind and body. MY gives you specific tools to help calm the mind, cool the body and find greater peace.


At its heart is the positive concept of Second Spring from traditional Chinese medicine that reframes post menopause as a time of renewal and self empowerment - an opportunity to step into wholeness.

This idea is the gold for me. By reframing The Menopause as a Second Spring - it becomes an awakening, a time of self-growth and a time to revisit some of your long forgotten passions. We can change our perception of menopause and make it a time of positive change rather than a list of symptoms. You will may still suffer, but MY helps you navigate the journey and give yourself time to adapt to the new hormone levels.


MY gives you permission:

  • To retreat - sleep & rest are essential, you need time to adjust to new hormone levels and the changes your body is experiencing.

  • To have time for yourself - where you are not being asked to do anything.

  • To be slower & calmer - stress makes symptoms worse & raised cortisol makes it harder to sleep and affects digestion.

  • To be gentle on yourself - kindness, compassion and self acceptance.

Menopause Yoga is more than a yoga class with asana!

It is an Holistic approach and practice that brings together western modern medical science and ancient eastern wellbeing. It recognises that menopause affects every part of a woman’s body including every cell where there are oestrogen receptors. Therefore, women need whole person support for their body, mind and emotions.

It works on your Mindset and promotes a positive perspective of the menopause as an Awakening and opportunity to step into our Second Spring – a time of strength and empowerment in our post reproductive lives.

It is a Toolkit of techniques that empower you and help you to embrace the menopause as a time of self growth. This is the key to flourishing in your Second Spring!

It gives you general guidance on how you can manage their menopause symptoms, including general guidance on nutrition, natural remedies, supplements, complimentary therapies, and other lifestyle changes.

Menopause Yoga modifies the asana poses, uses breathwork and meditation to ensure women can practice safely. Modifications using yoga props and variations to support women who have physical injuries or conditions that may include menopause symptoms such as hot flushes, headaches, anxiety, fatigue, joint and muscle pain, osteopenia.


What attracted me? Everything hurt, it provided me with a spiritual transition and it offered a community and a connection with self and other women.
